Java Senior Developer
Location: Ontario
Compensation range: $78,000-$98,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Maintain active relationships with the Product Owner to understand business requirements, lead requirement‑gathering meetings, and review designs.
- Own backlog items and coordinate with team members to develop features planned for each sprint.
- Perform technical design reviews and code reviews.
- Prototype, develop, and troubleshoot software in the user interface or service layers.
- Execute peer reviews on source code to ensure reuse, scalability, and best practices.
- Participate in collaborative technical discussions focused on user experience, design, architecture, and development.
- Demonstrate project features and sub‑features to client stakeholders, utilizing the latest front‑end and back‑end development technologies.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in Java/JEE development.
- Experience developing applications using multi‑tier architecture.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud and AWS cloud services.
- Proficiency in Java/JEE, Spring, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP web services, Hibernate, SQL, Tomcat, application servers (e.g., WebSphere), SONAR, Agile, AJAX, Jenkins, and related tools.
- Skilled in UML, application design/architecture, and design patterns.
- Experience with unit testing using JUnit or similar frameworks.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to provide overlap coverage with onsite/customer teams until 9 PM IST.
- Capability to support QA teams with test plans, root‑cause analysis, and defect fixing.
- Strong experience in responsive design and cross‑browser web applications.
- Deep understanding of web service models and API creation.
- Familiarity with REST web services, Swagger profiles, and JSON payloads.
- Experience with agile, scaled‑agile development models.
- Proficient with tools/utilities such as Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence.
