We are looking for a highly skilled senior Java developer to join our company. In this role, you will design, create, and implement various Java‑based solutions for the business that will range from mobile applications to database programming.
Additional Information The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize Spark-based data pipelines using Java for processing large‑scale financial datasets.
Implement distributed computing solutions for risk modeling, trade analytics, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
Ensure high performance and reliability of Spark jobs through performance tuning (partitioning, caching, memory management).
Maintain code quality using CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and version control (Git, Jenkins).
Work with batch and streaming data for real‑time and historical analytics.
Requirements 8+ years of experience in software development.
Strong knowledge of Spark Core, Spark SQL, DataFrames, and Spark Streaming.
Proficiency in Java (Scala or Python is a plus).
Experience with Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, HDFS, and Kafka.
Familiarity with financial markets, risk management, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel, MiFID).
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
Desired Skill
Preferred to have banking experience in the past.
Knowledge of market risk concepts like VaR, Greeks, and stress testing.
Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB).
Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
