Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer with strong AWS expertise to support enterprise application development for IBM/Barclays. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of hands-on software development experience, with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, AWS cloud services, and distributed systems.
The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable, secure, and high-performance applications within a large enterprise banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE and Spring Boot.
- Develop scalable Microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Work with AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.
- Develop event-driven and distributed applications using Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
- Implement application security, authentication, authorization, and secure API development practices.
- Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
- Deploy and manage applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Perform application performance tuning, troubleshooting, debugging, and production support.
- Write efficient, reusable, testable, and maintainable code following enterprise coding standards.
- Develop automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development and security standards.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers.
- Work within Agile/Scrum development teams and participate in sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance when required.
Required Skills
- 8–10 years of Java application development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+.
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, Spring Security.
- Extensive experience developing Microservices and REST APIs.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with Kafka / event-driven architecture.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Strong understanding of design patterns, distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native architecture.
- Experience with automated testing using JUnit and Mockito.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
- Good understanding of Agile/SDLC methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments such as Barclays or other major financial institutions.
- Knowledge of AWS IAM, security, networking, monitoring, and logging.
- Experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of Redis/ElastiCache or other caching technologies.
- Experience with observability tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace.
- AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer or AWS Solutions Architect is a plus.
