Duties / Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve complex Java-based systems and APIs.
- Own technical decisions around architecture, scalability, and engineering standards.
- Review code and challenge technical approaches to ensure quality and maintainability.
- Work closely with developers to raise engineering practices and solve difficult problems.
- Build and influence cloud-based solutions across modern technology environments.
- Research and introduce technologies that improve product capability.
- Support DevOps practices, deployments, testing, and production stability.
- Partner with the CTO on technical strategy and gradually take ownership of broader technology responsibilities.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Java development experience.
- Deep understanding of software engineering principles, architecture patterns, and system design.
- Experience building scalable systems, APIs, and distributed applications.
- Cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure).
- Comfortable making difficult technical decisions and challenging existing approaches.
- Experience mentoring developers or acting as a technical authority.
- Exposure to web technologies (Angular/TypeScript advantageous).
- Someone who prefers building and solving over managing meetings.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field required.
- Engineering degree highly preferred.
