Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust Java based microservices that process and serve complex geospatial data while maintaining high performance and reliability for enterprise applications.
- Develop and optimize Spring Boot services that integrate geospatial libraries and data sources to deliver efficient spatial queries and analytical features for business users.
- Configure and manage AWS EC2 environments to host and scale Java microservices that support geospatial workloads with strong focus on availability and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with product owners and geospatial analysts to translate domain requirements into technical designs and implementation plans that align with organizational objectives.
- Review and refactor existing Java and Spring Boot codebases to enhance modularity, maintainability, and adherence to best practices across microservices architecture.
- Implement secure interfaces and APIs that enable reliable data exchange between geospatial services, external systems, and client applications following industry security standards.
- Monitor application performance and resource utilization on AWS EC2 instances and propose improvements that enhance throughput, stability, and user experience.
- Coordinate with quality engineering teams to define test strategies for microservices including unit, integration, and performance testing for geospatial processing flows.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation that covers architecture decisions, deployment configurations, and operational procedures for Java and Spring Boot services.
- Mentor team members on advanced Java concepts, microservices patterns, and effective use of Spring Boot features to maintain consistent engineering quality.
- Engage with stakeholders to plan delivery milestones, estimate effort, and ensure that geospatial solutions are delivered on schedule and within defined quality expectations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational governance standards, data protection guidelines, and regulatory requirements in all geospatial solution components.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to adopt emerging tools, frameworks, and patterns that enhance geospatial capability within the organization.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in core and advanced Java concepts including multithreading, collections, and performance optimization applied to geospatial processing scenarios.
- Exhibit hands-on expertise with Spring Boot for building microservices including dependency injection, RESTful services, configuration management, and observability.
- Show practical experience designing and deploying microservices architectures that handle high volume and low latency geospatial data transactions.
- Apply working knowledge of AWS EC2 for provisioning, configuring, and managing compute resources that host Java based microservices in production environments.
- Utilize experience with geospatial concepts such as coordinate reference systems, vector and raster data, and spatial indexing to design effective solutions.
- Display familiarity with relational and NoSQL data stores commonly used for geospatial applications and design schemas that support efficient spatial queries.
- Use strong understanding of CI and CD practices to automate build, test, and deployment pipelines for Java and Spring Boot microservices.
- Demonstrate ability to analyze complex problems in geospatial workflows and propose practical and scalable technical solutions.
- Communicate effectively with cross functional teams and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of geospatial solution capabilities and constraints.
- Maintain focus on quality and maintainability by adhering to coding standards, conducting reviews, and encouraging continuous learning within the team.
- Leverage prior experience of eight to twelve years in Java development to guide architectural decisions and ensure resilient microservices solutions.
- Prefer exposure to additional cloud native services such as container orchestration and monitoring tools that complement AWS EC2 deployments.
- Value experience working in office based agile environments where close collaboration and quick feedback cycles are essential for project success.
Certifications Required: Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Developer Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate and Java focused credentials such as Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer.
