Java Technical Architect (Fees Product Domain) - Geneva Switzerland
Prerequisite to work with Pictet: A mandatory requirement for working with Pictet is to be domiciled in Switzerland. Pictet will only onboard if they met both conditions.
- It is essential that the consultant resides in Switzerland on the first day of their assignment.
- The consultant must relocate to Switzerland and apply for B Work Permit or C Work Permit if selected.
(Need certificate from the OCP (Cantonal Population Office) confirming the consultant's residence if they are relocating and applying for fresh B-Permit).

Job Description:
At least 8 years of experience as a Java Technical Lead, Java Technical Architect, or Senior Java Software Engineer, with expertise in fee-based product domains such as Fees, Billing, Commissions, Charges, Revenue Management, or similar platforms, along with Financial Services domain experience in Banking, Wealth Management, and/or Asset Management must have.
Experience required
- At least 8 years of experience as Technical Lead, Technical Architect or Senior Software Engineer.
- Strong experience with Java, Spring and API-based architectures.
- Experience with Agile delivery methods (Scrum).
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring capabilities.
- Financial Services Domain Experience (Banking/Wealth Mgmt/Asset Mgmt)
- Good knowledge of CI/CD, Git, Maven and modern software engineering practices.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes, Docker and container-based deployments.
- Preferred experience with Kafka, MQSeries or equivalent messaging technologies.
- Proven experience designing and evolving enterprise-grade software architectures.
- Experience working in complex and business-critical environments, ideally in financial services.
- Strong analytical skills, autonomy and ownership mindset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
- As Technical Architect for the Fees product, you will own the technical vision and architecture of a strategic platform supporting fee calculation, commission management and billing activities.
- You will play a central role in the modernization of the platform and in the establishment of a engineering capability.
- Acting as the technical reference for the product, you will guide architecture decisions, coach engineers and ensure the delivery of scalable, resilient and maintainable solutions aligned with business objectives and the Custody & Trading technology strategy.
- Working closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Solution Architects and Engineering teams, you will contribute to the long-term evolution of the Fees platform while ensuring operational excellence and delivery efficiency.
Activities:
- Own the technical vision and target architecture of the Fees platform.
- Define architectural principles, engineering standards and development practices.
- Design and implement high-performance Java-based solutions.
- Lead technical design decisions and architecture reviews.
- Contribute hands-on to the development of key components and strategic initiatives.
- Support the creation and ramp-up of a new nearshore engineering team in Portugal.
- Coach engineers and promote engineering excellence across the team.
- Coordinate developments between teams in Switzerland and Portugal.
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and architectural improvement opportunities.
- Drive platform modernization, technical debt reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote DevOps practices, CI/CD adoption and software industrialization.
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex production incidents and lead technical root cause analysis.
- Ensure security, resiliency and operational readiness are embedded in technical solutions.
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation, technical roadmaps and design standards.
