Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Apigee Developer to design, develop, and manage enterprise-grade API platforms using Google Apigee (Edge/X/Hybrid). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in API design, security, lifecycle management, and enterprise integrations. A strong background in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and Microservices is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of API solutions using Apigee Edge/X/Hybrid.
- Define API governance, design standards, and best practices.
- Develop and manage API proxies, shared flows, policies, and security frameworks.
- Implement API security using OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, Rate Limiting, and Threat Protection.
- Design and develop integrations across cloud and on-premise applications.
- Optimize APIs for scalability, reliability, and high performance.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Product, and Engineering teams on enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and conduct code reviews.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize API performance.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for API deployments.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of software development and integration experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Apigee (Edge/X/Hybrid).
- Strong expertise in:
- RESTful API Development
- API Lifecycle Management
- API Governance
- API Gateway Policies
- API Debugging & Analytics
- Strong understanding of API Security:
- OAuth2
- JWT
- Mutual TLS (mTLS)
- Rate Limiting
- Threat Protection
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable).
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
- Integration technologies including Kafka, ESB, Middleware, and Messaging Systems.
- OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Financial Services or large Enterprise Platform experience.
- API Monetization and Developer Portal implementation.
Leadership Expectations
- Drive enterprise API strategy and roadmap.
- Mentor development teams and promote API best practices.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for API and Integration Architecture.
