Position Purpose
Runs the plant from the control room. The most technically demanding hourly role in the plant, where hiring early pays back most since console competence is built by watching systems come alive during commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the process from the DCS within the approved operating envelope and respond to alarms and deviations.
- Execute batch sequences, phase transitions and grade changes, and verify batch record completion.
- Monitor and trend critical process parameters and take early corrective action.
- Coordinate field operators, direct isolation and prepare equipment for maintenance.
- Execute controlled startup, shutdown and emergency shutdown procedures.
- Support commissioning, loop checks, functional testing and dry runs.
- Mentor field operators and support their progression to console qualification.
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of process operations with at least two years on a DCS console.
- Demonstrated ability to hold a process steady and troubleshoot under pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Process technology associate degree strongly preferred.
- Willingness to work a twelve hour rotating shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fermentation or batch chemical operations experience.
- Prior greenfield startup participation.
- Experience on the site's selected DCS platform.
