Lead Java Developer

About the Job: Infoya is seeking a hands-on Lead Java Developer who is alreadyoperating at a technical lead level and demonstrates the curiosity, judgment,and enthusiasm to grow into broader architecture ownership. This role will helpshape efficient, scalable solutions byconnecting business needs, application design flows, integration patterns, andcloud architecture with high-quality engineering execution.

The idealcandidate combines deep Java and Spring expertise with strong systems-designcapability. You will remain close to the code while guiding solution design,reviewing technical decisions, mentoring developers, and collaborating withproduct, engineering, infrastructure, architecture, and business stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, optimization, andsupport of scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices for high-traffice-commerce applications.
• Translate business and product requirements intoclear application flows, component designs, integration patterns, and pragmatictechnical solutions.
• Contribute to application, integration, API, anddata architecture standards across the e-commerce portfolio.
• Design secure RESTful APIs, event-drivenservices, distributed workflows, and resilient integrations using technologiessuch as Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Evaluate and recommend frameworks, databases,cloud services, and architectural patterns based on scalability, reliability,maintainability, security, and cost.
• Review solution designs, code, and technicaldocumentation; identify risks early and support architecture governance anddesign-quality practices.
• Partner with product, engineering, QA, DevOps,infrastructure, architecture, and business teams to drive efficient solutioningand delivery.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring,design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
• Drive modernization and cloud-migrationinitiatives, including the decomposition of legacy or monolithic applicationsinto cloud-native services.
• Build for security, compliance, observability,high availability, performance, and production resilience from the outset.
• Investigate complex production issues, conductroot-cause analysis, and improve platform stability and performance.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and architecturalpatterns, validating their practical value through prototypes orproof-of-concept work when appropriate.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience,with substantial hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, andenterprise application development.
• Demonstrated experience operating as a LeadDeveloper, Technical Lead, or senior engineer with ownership of designdecisions and technical direction.
• Strong understanding of applicationarchitecture, end-to-end design flows, microservices, distributed systems,design patterns, and API-led integration.
• Hands-on experience designing and buildingsecure RESTful APIs and event-driven applications.
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform andcloud-native services; comparable AWS or Azure experience may be consideredwhere supported by strong GCP capability.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, datamodelling, query optimization, indexing, caching, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CDpipelines, and production deployment practices.
• Working knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect,JWT, API security, encryption, and secure coding practices.
• Strong communication skills and the ability toexplain technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technicalstakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing or modernizinghigh-volume e-commerce, retail, financial-services, or othertransaction-intensive platforms.
• Understanding of e-commerce domainssuch as product catalogue, pricing, promotions, inventory, cart, checkout,order management, payments, fulfilment, and customer identity.
• Experience with reactiveprogramming, including Spring WebFlux.
• Experience influencing architectureroadmaps, technical standards, and modernization strategy without losinghands-on delivery focus.
• Exposure to additional backendtechnologies such as Node.js, Python, .NET Core/C#, or Go.

Benefits

Salary Range: $110,000 to $115,000 CAD/ year

The final compensation offered will depend on local marketconditions and geographic location, as well as job-related factors such as thecandidate’s knowledge, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, andeducation/training. Compensation may also include additional components such asbenefits, and/or other incentives, where applicable.
