Title: Linux Systems Engineer - Server Migration
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Onsite)

- Linux Systems Engineer Server Migration supports a large-scale data center migration program, relocating physical and virtual servers between facilities with minimal downtime and strong service continuity.
- Core focus
- Plan and execute end-to-end server migrations.
- Migrate VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines using vMotion, Storage vMotion, and cold migration methods.
- Manage iSCSI storage connectivity, LVM-based storage provisioning, and filesystem validation.
- Build automation and runbooks to make migration workflows repeatable and reliable.
- Troubleshoot performance, application, and infrastructure issues before, during, and after cutover.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and engineer the Linux compute platform across migration phases.
- Coordinate migration waves, rollback plans, and validation checklists.
- Maintain security, stability, and compliance across Linux infrastructure.
- Work with support teams and internal engineering groups to resolve complex issues.
- Contribute to modernization efforts involving Kubernetes, OpenShift, and related platform technologies.
Must-have skills:
- 8+ years of overall experience with 4+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix engineering experience.
- 4+years of experience with large-scale server or data center migrations.
- 3+ years of experience in Deep VMware ESXi/vSphere.
- 4+ years of experience in iSCSI networking and LVM expertise.
- Good skills in Bash and Python.
- Good understanding of networking, CI/CD, and container platforms like OpenShift/Kubernetes.
Nice to have:
- Experience with migration tools such as Zerto, Veeam, or vCenter Converter.
- Exposure to public cloud, databases, security tooling, and configuration management platforms like Ansible or Puppet.
