Machine Operator

The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Automatic Upsetter and related equipment such as Furnaces, Heaters, Cranes, and Conveyors. The role involves collaboration with utility personnel and helpers to transport raw materials safely and effectively, ensuring a clean and safe workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, check, and operate the Automatic Upsetter and related equipment.
  • Collaborate with utility personnel to transport raw materials safely.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace around the Upsetter machine and work environment.
  • Measure raw materials and finished products using tools like Tape Measures and Micrometers.
  • Adhere to quality standards and conduct inspections on raw materials and finished products.
  • Update product line documentation as changes occur.
  • Communicate updates on Upsetter performance and production issues via radio.
  • Follow all safety and plant regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years operating industrial forklifts
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with forklift operation, tow motor, steel manufacturing, machine operating, and inspection.
  • Familiarity with tools such as grinders, slitters, diecast equipment, gages, calipers, micrometers, and blueprint reading.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, machine setup, press brake operation, and fabrication.

Work Environment

This is a heavy industrial forging environment that is not temperature controlled. Candidates must be open to working any shift as per union regulations, with additional compensation for off shifts. Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (6:30am - 2:30pm), 2nd shift (2:30pm - 10:30pm), 3rd shift (10:30pm - 6:30am). Overtime is applicable after 8 hours of work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.52 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
