Job Summary:

The Mainframe Developer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications, primarily using COBOL, CICS, and DB technologies. This role involves both development of new programs and modification of existing ones, including production support and database conversions, while working under the supervision of a project manager within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and/or receive program specification requirements.
  • Design, code, and test new or modified mainframe programs.
  • Perform unit testing and participate in system testing with users.
  • Maintain and support production applications.
  • Develop supportive documentation for programs.
  • Participate in database conversion projects (e.g., IDMS/DC to CICS, IDMS to DB).
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Hands-on experience coding, testing, and debugging COBOL, CICS, and DB programs.
  • Proficiency with IBM OS/JCL (MVS) and IBM DB technologies.
  • Experience with CICS transaction processing.
  • Ability to participate in usability and system testing with end users.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with database conversions involving IDMS/DC to CICS or IDMS to DB.
Special Considerations:
  • All contractor personnel will work under direct supervision of a project manager or designated IT representative.
  • In-person interview required for the hiring process.
Scheduling:
  • Contract position for 3 months with possibility of extension.
  • Hybrid work schedule: 2 days in-office in Trenton, NJ, and 3 days remote per week.
