Description
Position Summary
Responsible for leading and managing all aspects of labor relations within the organization for both union and non-union facilities, while effectively developing, implementing, and leading comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs.
Essential Functions
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with local union representatives.
- Lead negotiations for collective bargaining agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while addressing employee concerns and needs.
- Handle grievances and disputes in accordance with established protocols, working to resolve issues amicably and efficiently.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness through specific actions, training, and accountability.
- Manage and control travel and entertainment expenses.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents and near misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Work closely with the business to integrate EHS and labor relations standards into operational practices.
- Communicate EHS goals and labor relations initiatives to all levels of the organization.
- Lead and mentor the EHS team, fostering an action and team-oriented environment.
- Develop and oversee annual budgets.
Qualifications
Skills & Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related field. Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in a labor relations role with direct responsibility for negotiating contracts, handling grievances and arbitrations, and advising leaders in unionized environments.
- Strong understanding of NLRA, NLRB processes, and state labor laws.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Labor relations experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.
- Experience leading or partnering on safety programs for a distributed workforce (field teams, multi-site operations, etc.) is desired.
Work Environment
- This is a hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days working from home)
- Work environment varies from office to job site to industrial locations
- Travel as needed to company locations
