Manager: Reference Data and Security Master Grade Level: 10. This role is within the Equity Data value stream at S&P Dow Jones Indices where the focus is on managing all data related to securities and their corporate actions. The team is responsible for collecting, validating, and updating stock and related instrument information, maintaining the security master – a centralized database that underpins all company products and ensures accurate index calculation and analytics.
Responsibilities and Impact - Design and maintain a unified security master database that serves as the single source of truth for security reference data across Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives.
- Define the canonical data model, including IDs, classifications, instrument terms, listings/venues, issuer links, and lifecycle states.
- Implement robust data governance practices: validation, auditing, and reconciliation to uphold high standards of accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Integrate corporate actions—mergers, splits, dividends—promptly and accurately into the security master to support downstream processes and products.
- Collaborate closely with index calculation, client support, and other cross‑functional teams to align the security master with business needs and enable seamless data flow.
- Identify process gaps, streamline workflows, and contribute to innovation in data handling and corporate action integration.
- Develop a deep domain expertise in securities, corporate actions, and security master data, positioning for future roles in data management, product development, or analytics.
What We’re Looking For - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Attention to detail, self‑motivation, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of Python.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: Experience with Databricks.
- Preferred: Knowledge of ETL processes such as Power Automate.
