Position Summary:

Perforce is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the engineering team for Gliffy, our visual collaboration and diagramming product, based in Pune, India. This role owns day-to-day engineering execution, delivery quality, and team development for Gliffy, while also engaging with the Akana and OpenLogic engineering teams to build cross-product collaboration and partnering closely with the VP of Engineering on strategic planning and roadmap decisions.
We are looking for a seasoned leader who can operate with significant scope and autonomy, bring strong organizational and cross-functional leadership skills, and contribute to strategic thinking across Perforce’s growing portfolio of products — not just execute within a single team. The ideal candidate has proven experience leading distributed engineering teams in a high-growth SaaS or enterprise software environment, a strong grasp of modern SDLC practices, and a track record of embedding AI into development workflows. They are comfortable operating with significant autonomy, influencing senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, and balancing hands-on technical depth with a broader strategic perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day planning, execution, and delivery quality for the Gliffy engineering team.
  • Build working familiarity with the Akana and OpenLogic product lines and engineering teams through shared planning, cross-team syncs, and joint initiatives, strengthening collaboration across Perforce’s product portfolio.
  • Partner with the VP of Engineering on strategy, roadmap input, and resourcing decisions for Gliffy; represent the Pune organization in broader planning discussions.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices, agentic tooling, and engineering best practices to improve velocity, quality, and predictability.
  • Manage resources and priorities across the team, adjusting for shifting demands while protecting delivery commitments.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Management, QA, and Customer Success on schedules, backlog, and roadmap alignment.
  • Hire, coach, and develop engineering talent in Pune; build a hiring plan that scales the team with business growth.
  • Lead difficult conversations, recognize excellence, and build a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Communicate delays, risks, and trade-offs transparently to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Take on stretch assignments — cross-team initiatives, process or org-design projects, mentoring other managers — as opportunities arise.
  • Present technical and delivery updates to senior leadership and cross-functional partners with clarity and confidence.
  • Ensure the team is cohesive and aligned toward shared goals across a matrixed, global engineering organization.

Requirements:

    • 8+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams in a SaaS, enterprise software, or similar environment.
    • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
    • Proven experience leading distributed global teams, with exposure to teams across India, the US, and/or Europe.
    • Strong track record delivering enterprise-grade SaaS, hybrid, or on-premises applications, including API-first and developer-focused products.
    • Deep technical understanding of scalable, high-performance, fault-tolerant, multi-tenant architectures, along with modern engineering practices such as Agile, CI/CD, test automation, and code quality.
    • Demonstrated success driving AI and SDLC transformation, including AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, automation, and AI-native product capabilities.
    • Experience managing multiple teams or workstreams, including resource planning, budgeting, execution, and operational decision-making.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, navigate complex business decisions, and drive cross-functional outcomes.
    • Proven ability to build high-performing teams through coaching, performance management, change leadership, and a culture of accountability.
    • Data-driven leader with strong business acumen, communication skills, and the ability to develop compelling business cases.
    • Experience with platform consolidation, M&A integration, or multi-product engineering environments is a plus.

Nice to Have / Additional Qualities We Value:

  • Experience designing organizational structures to optimize workflow and performance, and comfort supporting resource and succession planning.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and matrixed collaboration, including coaching other people leaders on effective resource management and team alignment.
  • Strong executive-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive, data-driven business cases using storytelling, ROI, and strategic alignment.
  • Comfort managing multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously, balancing day-to-day execution with longer-term planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence senior stakeholders, external partners, or institutions to solve critical business problems.
  • Experience owning budget or fiscal accountability for a broader function, and aligning resources with strategic goals.
  • A track record of helping design change strategy — not just executing it — through structured frameworks and cross-functional partnership.
  • Deep awareness of others’ perspectives and motivations, with the ability to adapt leadership and negotiation approaches to build alignment and trust.

All employees are expected to demonstrate AI fluency appropriate to their role and level, including responsible use of AI tools, sound judgment, and adherence to company AI governance and security policy standards.
