How Will You Make an Impact?
This software engineering manager role is based in Tijuana, Mexico. You will manage an engineering team of developers, testers, scrum masters and product owners.
The team is dedicated to crafting and maintaining solutions for instrument connectivity and Artificial Intelligence, You will work closely with product management and collaborate with colleagues, customers, partners, and team members from around the world to design, develop, and implement these solutions.
You are highly technical and can be hands-on as needed. You will be able to guide the team in both strategy and execution.
What Will You Do?
- Drive engineering excellency. Oversee team software life cycle activities to ensure quality, reliability, compliance, and system scalability. Ensure alignment, coordination, and continuous improvement for ongoing project execution.
- Lead and champion scaled agile and lean processes for software development.
- Collaborate with product managers, program/project managers, business leaders to define technical strategy and roadmap.
- Collaborate with architects to define software architecture (efficiency, stability, scalability)
- Establish the right staffing strategy. Partner with local HR to establish/enhance resource related strategies and processes, such as recruiting strategy, training program, team pipeline analysis, career path planning, organizational healthiness etc.
- Mentor, coach developers as a responsibility.
How Will You Get Here?
- 4+ years of relevant technical leadership experience (as Technical Lead or QA Lead)
- Deep understanding and experience in software development practices including agile scrum, scaled agile, continuous integration and deployment, and fully automated testing strategies. (Plus)
- Systems experience (software/hardware/reagents) in biotech, medical device, or life sciences industry a strong (Plus)
- Experience with architectures that satisfy regulated standards such as ISO 14385 or 21 CFR Part II is also a strong (Plus)
- Clinical research software experience (Plus)
- Understanding on Cloud infrastructure and open source Large Language Model (Plus)
- Ability to balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams (Strong Plus)
