Material Handler $18/HR
This role focuses on coordinating yard operations and handling inventory as a forklift operator on first shift in Bettendorf, Iowa. You will move products throughout the yard in outdoor conditions, support customer orders by accurately picking and staging materials, and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift to move products safely and efficiently throughout the yard and shop areas.
- Serve as the yard coordinator by organizing materials, maintaining inventory locations, and ensuring products are easy to access.
- Work in outdoor elements daily, handling and transporting materials in various weather conditions.
- Pick customer-prescribed orders accurately by reading inventory labels and following order documentation.
- Perform general labor and material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, and staging products.
- Lift and move heavy items up to 75 lbs on a regular basis while following safe lifting practices.
- Learn and operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Use hand and power tools when required to support pipe fabrication or related shop tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized yard and shop area, keeping walkways and workspaces free of hazards.
- Interact professionally with customers when needed, supporting a positive service experience.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to facility rules.
- Collaborate with a small team to meet daily production and shipping goals and support overall shop operations.
Essential Skills
- 12 years of experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse, yard, or industrial environment.
- Proven ability to perform material handling and general labor tasks safely and efficiently.
- Capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions on a daily basis.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly as part of daily duties.
- Comfort reading inventory labels, order forms, and basic documentation to pick and stage orders accurately.
- Willingness to learn overhead crane operation and additional material handling equipment.
- Reliable work habits with a focus on safety, organization, and teamwork.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of the water or wastewater industry, plumbing experience, or experience in pipe fabrication is a plus.
- Experience using hand and power tools in an industrial or construction setting is beneficial.
- Customer-facing experience and comfort interacting with customers is a nice-to-have.
- Ability to adapt to a busy, machinery-heavy environment and follow shop procedures.
- Interest in developing skills that can lead to advancement into a service technician role over time.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
