Position Summary

The Material Handler 2nd Shift is responsible for moving products, materials, parts, and supplies to and from warehouse and production areas to support efficient production and storage. This role helps maintain inventory accuracy, supports production flow, and ensures materials are handled safely and properly.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Move materials, parts, and products to and from warehouse and production locations based on display boards, written instructions, and verbal direction.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and with care.
  • Properly lift, balance, and move loads to prevent damage and support production flow.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by checking identification, scanning material movement, and reporting shortages or damaged materials.
  • Supply production areas with needed materials and remove completed work or waste from production areas.
  • Maintain neat and organized aisles, storage areas, and workspaces to support safe and efficient movement.
  • Consolidate sets of paper and stack or sleeve skids as needed.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical or process issues and take corrective action when appropriate.
  • Escalate equipment, process, or material concerns to supervision as needed.
  • Assist in training new operators by demonstrating tasks and providing guidance on processes and procedures.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Follow up on equipment or area repairs as directed by maintenance or leadership.
  • Follow all prescribed safety rules, regulations, company policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior material handler, warehouse, manufacturing, or production experience preferred.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks or other warehouse equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Basic reading and math ability.
  • Limited working proficiency in English required.
  • Visual and hearing acuity required.
  • Ability to use hand tools, equipment, and materials as intended by the manufacturer.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to support production efficiency and quality.
  • Ability to work overtime and different shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with peers.
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable supporting production needs.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be comfortable working in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • May be required to stand, walk, bend, lift, move, push, pull, and handle materials throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to safely operate material handling equipment as required.
  • Specific vision and hearing requirements include visual acuity and hearing acuity needed to safely perform the role.
  • The noise level in the work environment may vary based on production activity.
