Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide mechanical engineering designs for assigned projects, including machine specifications, equipment sizing and selection, mechanical parts, assemblies, schematics, layouts, component specifications, bills of materials, and complete machine documentation.

Follow Michelin mechanical design standards for all equipment designs.

Prepare budget estimates and bid packages.

Develop project documentation, including mechanical designs, technical offers, safety risk assessments, training documents, and user manuals.

Support the procurement of equipment and materials.

Conduct acceptance inspections for equipment delivered to the plant.

Manage mechanical contractors and maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications, installations, startups, and commissioning.

Prepare estimates and technical schedules for equipment additions, replacements, and upgrades.

Provide support and training to plant maintenance teams on newly implemented systems.

Coordinate with internal support teams and provide direction to contract engineering resources.

Participate in capital projects and equipment modifications from planning through commissioning and final acceptance.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education.
  2. Three or more years of engineering experience supporting industrial or large commercial projects.
  3. Experience managing internal and external contractors.
  4. Experience with mechanical design standards, including OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and ISO.
  5. SolidWorks and product lifecycle management system experience.
  6. Hands-on experience with industrial equipment installation, machine removal, disassembly, relocation, reassembly, alignment, commissioning, and startup.
  7. Experience with lifting devices, cranes, jibs, below-the-hook devices, and end effectors.
  8. Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, piping, and fittings.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

AutoCAD or DraftSight 2D.

Teamcenter.

Mechanics of materials, stress analysis, and FEA.

Motor and gearbox sizing and selection.

Industrial drive system sizing and selection.

Robotics, AGVs, ASRS, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.

Measurement and vision systems.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Project leadership or project management experience.

Detailed installation planning, including risk assessments, timelines, and step-by-step installation plans.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with employees at every level of the plant.

PLANT ENVIRONMENT:

The production site employs approximately 870 people across plant production, management, engineering, and support functions
