Job Description:
As a Senior Microsoft SQL Developer, you will support the modernization of a high-volume transaction processing platform by developing, optimizing, and modernizing SQL Server components within an Azure-hosted environment. You will work closely with architects, developers, and cloud engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions that support a microservices-based architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Perform advanced query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization.
- Modernize legacy database code and support existing SQL components.
- Collaborate with .NET developers to implement efficient data access and integration solutions.
- Support high-availability environments using SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
- Develop ETL processes and data integration solutions using SSIS and Databricks.
- Create and deploy database changes through Azure DevOps and GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
- Support database architecture modernization aligned with microservices initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with security, data retention, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and deliver sprint commitments.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- 7 10+ years of SQL Server development experience in enterprise environments.
- Advanced expertise in T-SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience developing and supporting SQL Server environments hosted on Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS).
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and high-availability architectures.
- Experience modernizing legacy database code, schemas, and SQL workloads.
- Strong experience building ETL solutions using SSIS and Databricks.
- Experience collaborating with .NET Core/C# development teams and API integrations.
- Experience implementing database deployments through Azure DevOps, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and enterprise software development practices.
- Knowledge of PCI compliance, database security, cloud-hosted SQL environments, Terraform, microservices architecture, and domain-driven design preferred.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
