Job Title: Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator

Job Description:
As a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, you will support enterprise database environments by managing database administration, migrations, backup and recovery operations, performance monitoring, and production support activities. You will play a key role in database platform modernization initiatives while ensuring the availability, security, and reliability of critical business systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support database migration projects including platform transitions, validation, and post-migration testing.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments across multiple versions.
- Perform database backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability while resolving issues proactively.
- Troubleshoot database incidents and provide day-to-day production support.
- Execute database updates, maintenance activities, and system improvements.
- Manage database security, user access controls, and compliance requirements.
- Support database architecture, configuration, deployment, and operational maintenance.
- Maintain accurate project, process, and operational documentation.
- Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to support database-related initiatives.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- Strong experience administering and managing production Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Experience with database migrations, upgrades, and platform modernization projects.
- Hands-on expertise with database backup, recovery, restoration, and monitoring processes.
- Experience supporting SQL Server environments ranging from legacy to modern versions.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills in production database environments.
- Knowledge of database security, access management, and compliance best practices.
- Experience designing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining database systems.
- Ability to perform break/fix support and incident resolution for critical database environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in both technical and customer-facing situations.
- Experience with Oracle databases, disaster recovery planning, and enterprise database infrastructure is preferred.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $75.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
