Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Developer / Architect to design, develop, optimize, and maintain enterprise-scale database architectures and reporting solutions supporting mission-critical business applications. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in SQL Server development, database architecture, ETL processes, business intelligence, cloud technologies, and performance optimization. This role requires strong experience working within complex enterprise environments and the ability to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain enterprise database architectures supporting complex business applications, high-volume transactions, reporting environments, and long-term scalability.
Develop advanced Microsoft SQL Server solutions utilizing T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, and other database objects.
Design, develop, and implement robust ETL processes using SSIS and related technologies.
Integrate data across enterprise applications, reporting platforms, cloud services, and external systems while ensuring data quality and consistency.
Create, optimize, and support reporting and analytics solutions using SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, and related BI technologies.
Lead enterprise data modeling initiatives supporting operational analytics, workflow automation, regulatory reporting, and decision-making processes.
Analyze and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and resource optimization.
Design and support Azure-hosted SQL Server environments to maximize availability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with developers, architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable database solutions.
Support database deployment automation, schema version control, release management, and CI/CD processes.
Contribute to database governance, architecture reviews, technical documentation, and modernization initiatives.
Implement database security controls, auditing mechanisms, data governance standards, and data protection strategies.
Required Skills
7+ years of Microsoft SQL Server Development and Database Architecture experience.
5+ years of experience supporting enterprise database environments, reporting platforms, analytics solutions, and data models.
Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.
Advanced T-SQL programming experience.
Extensive experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
Strong experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).
Experience with SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services).
Expertise in Power BI development and reporting solutions.
Experience designing and implementing ETL processes.
Strong knowledge of database normalization and dimensional modeling.
Experience with data warehousing concepts and enterprise data architecture.
Strong database performance tuning and optimization skills.
Experience with indexing strategies and execution plan analysis.
Experience supporting Azure SQL Server environments.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps.
Experience with Azure Virtual Machines.
Experience with Azure Blob Storage.
Experience with Azure Monitor.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and database deployment automation.
Experience implementing database security, governance, and auditing controls.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
Master's Degree preferred.
Experience supporting Federal, State, or Local Government agencies.

Familiarity with claims lifecycle management and adjudication systems.
Experience with case management platforms and hearing management systems.

Experience supporting Azure-hosted SQL Server environments and cloud-native database practices.
Experience with Azure DevOps, DevSecOps, schema version control, and automated database deployments.
Knowledge of Azure Key Vault and Azure networking.
Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate certification.
Related database architecture certifications are highly desirable.

Local Maryland candidates only.
