Mid / Senior Java Developer

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join the Orion delivery team in Lisbon. Orion is a strategic Control Framework and Supervision platform supporting non financial risk across CIB. You will contribute to the design, development, and evolution of a scalable, robust solution, working closely with business analysts, architects, and other development teams in an agile environment.

What will you do?

• Design, develop, and maintain Java based backend services and components for the Orion platform
• Contribute to the delivery of core and transversal features, as well as entity specific requirements
• Ensure high code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to development standards
• Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives)
• Proactively identify technical improvements to enhance performance, security, and maintainability
• Support deployment activities and contribute to production stability when required

What are we looking for?

• Strong experience in Java (8+) and Spring / Spring Boot
• Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs and backend service design
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (Git)
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
• Good understanding of non functional requirements: performance, security, scalability
• English ➔ Mastery
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in an international, distributed team
• Clear communication and a collaborative mindset
• Proactive, delivery focused attitude

Nice to have:

• Experience in banking or financial services, ideally in Front Office or risk related systems
• Exposure to microservices architectures
• Familiarity with cloud or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of messaging systems or event driven architectures
