Mining Engineer

NMDC Limited is India's largest iron ore producer and is establishing its Australian operations from an office in Sydney. We are seeking a Mining Engineer to provide technical assessment and engineering evaluation of mineral projects in Australia.
Responsibilities
* Conduct technical assessments of mineral deposits and mining projects, working with geologists, metallurgists and geotechnical specialists, to determine mineral resources, mining potential and feasibility of extraction.
* Identify and technically assess prospective mineral assets and projects in Australia, and prepare engineering evaluations and recommendations to support investment and development decisions.
* Undertake technical due diligence and engineering evaluation of operating, development and exploration stage mineral projects being considered for acquisition, investment or joint venture, including assessment of mine plans, resource and reserve estimates, production forecasts, infrastructure requirements and key development risks.
* Review and evaluate geological models and JORC compliant Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimates to assess technical viability and development potential.
* Assess and recommend mining methods and extraction strategies having regard to deposit geometry, depth, geotechnical characteristics, orebody configuration and stripping requirements.
* Prepare and review mining production estimates, operating and capital cost estimates, equipment requirements and project schedules.
* Prepare technical reports, project evaluations and recommendations for management.
Skills and experience required
* Degree in mining engineering.
* At least five years of experience in mine planning, mine design and technical evaluation of mining projects.
* Experience reviewing JORC compliant Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimates.
* Experience in technical due diligence or project evaluation for acquisition or investment purposes.
* Working knowledge of mine planning and modelling software.
* Experience preparing capital and operating cost estimates and production schedules.
* Strong technical report writing and stakeholder communication skills.
