Multimodality Technologist - 3923

Position Summary: Performs exams in two or more modalities to include plain image X-ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Sonography (US), Echocardiography and Bone Density (DXA), to provide diagnostic information by operating a wide variety of medical imaging equipment.

Critical Tasks:

  • Correctly interprets provider's order and checks for consistency between diagnosis and ordered exam. Calls provider directly before proceeding if there is any discrepancy.
  • Performs medical imaging exams within the scope of practice defined by The Arizona Department Of Health Services, Special Licensing and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and/or The International Society for Clinical Densitometry and/or The American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists as applicable.
  • Works collaboratively with other technologists to prioritize patient care amongst more several modalities.
  • Establishes personal rapport with patients and other persons; gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment and answering questions.
  • Operates medical imaging equipment while following manufacturer's guidelines; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains radiology supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Minimizes radiation to patients and staff by employing the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle by utilizing beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains production and quality of images by following established standards and protocols.
  • Documents patient care in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and EHR (electronic health record)
  • Contributes to team by attending staff meetings and volunteering for GRHC wide exercises.
  • Identifies patient using 2 patient identifiers.
  • All other position related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Radiography or a closely related field of study preferred.
  • Graduate of JCERT accredited Radiography program.
  • Current registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • 2 years' experience in advanced imaging preferred.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) or ability to obtain Certificate within 3 months in position.
  • Current and continuing BLS training and certifications; or able to obtain within 30 days in position.
  • Demonstrate ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.

Plus at least one of the following Certifications:

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT): ARRT (R), State License from Arizona Department of Health Services, Special Licensing.
  • Computed Tomography Technologist (CT): ARRT (CT), State License from Arizona Department of Health Services, Special Licensing.
  • Magnetic Resonance Technologists (MRI): ARRT (MR) or AMRIT.
  • Sonographer: ARRT (S) or ARDMS.
  • Echocardiographer: ARDMS (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Bone Density Technologist ARRT (BD)
