Valiant is looking for a Network Computer System Admin I to join our team!
This position is a full time Exempt (salary) position, supporting the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC)Support Contract. The Network Computer System Administrator I supports the operation, maintenance, and sustainment of the JNN and the overall JRTC Integrated Training Networks requirement. This role works closely with the Computer Systems Administrator II and Network Administrator II to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient network operations for OPS Group (OPS GRP) networks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and maintain the Joint Network Node (JNN) and Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) in support of JRTC rotational training, including preventive maintenance and administration.
Configure, manage, and maintain NetOps infrastructure—including the Virtual Switching System (VSS), Virtual Machines (VM), routers, switches, firewalls, Cisco Call Manager (CCM), Solaris NetFlow and other servers, monitoring tools, equipment, and software—in support of JRTC rotational mission requirements.
Maintain, upgrade, and optimize network infrastructure in coordination with the Network Administrator II.
Assist the Computer Systems Administrator II with daily network operations for OPS GRP networks.
Ensure connectivity of the infrastructure for rotational training and verify the functionality of links.
Conduct upper Tactical Internet (TI) network analysis and troubleshooting in support of JRTC rotational mission requirements.
Provide customer support to troubleshoot issues encountered by units and other users of the JNN network.
Design, configure, and maintain network monitoring tools and conduct network trend analysis.
Coordinate Satellite Access Requests (SAR) and Joint Integrated SATCOM Tool (JIST); coordinate with Regional Hub Nodes (RHN) and unit hub nodes to meet mission requirements.
Plan, coordinate, and schedule Joint Training Experiential Network (JTEN) missions.
Provide Network Management guidance and recommendations to Brigade- and Battalion-level Network Technicians.
Assist and provide technical support to Technology Support/Trainers as needed.
Conduct monthly Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Nessus scans; perform quarterly Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) updates IAW DoD Information Systems Standards and DISA policies.
Research applicable standards and documentation to ensure network compliance.
Enforce system access, operation, maintenance, and disposition requirements.
Maintain industry certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M and DoDD 8140.01 for IAT Level II.
Identify, analyze, and document long-range requirements and administer resources related to the enterprise network.
Plan for and ensure reasonable network performance responsiveness (e.g., availability, reliability, and throughput).
Perform data collection for performance evaluation and create monitoring reports and equipment logs.
Conduct and report Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) for all JNN, STT, and NetOps equipment.
Prepare activity and progress reports for the Government regarding network performance initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SECURITY REQUIREMENT: Active Secret
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or higher
CompTIA Security+ CE certification required and IAT Level II compliant on day one (this requirement cannot be waived). An equivalent or higher-level IAT Level II baseline certification is also acceptable.
Computing Environment (CE) certification required within 6 months of hire highly desirable.
Work Week: Monday–Friday during standard operations. 24-hour coverage schedules include weekends and overnight shifts during mission support.
Work Hours: 8-hour shift during standard operations. During training mission support, shifts (including day, evening, and overnight) are assigned to maintain continuous 24-hour coverage.
Overtime: As Required
Travel: As Required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
