Job Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain server-side applications using Node.js
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
- Build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems
- Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and QA teams
- Integrate third-party services, APIs, and databases
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Implement security and data protection best practices
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
Required Qualifications
- Experience building scalable APIs (REST required, GraphQL a plus) and working with asynchronous/event-driven systems
- Hands‑on experience with Node.js frameworks (Express.js required, NestJS preferred)
- Solid experience with databases: relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis), plus ORM/ODM tools
- Strong understanding of authentication & security (JWT, OAuth, RBAC, API security best practices)
- Experience designing microservices and distributed systems, including caching and messaging (Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices (AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, CI/CD pipelines)
- Proficiency in Git and collaborative development workflows
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha) and writing unit/integration tests
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, debugging, and monitoring in backend systems

The pay range for this role is CAD$90,000 - CAD $110,000*per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
