Oracle PL/SQL Developer (Data Engineering & CI/CD) / Contract / Hybrid / Charlotte, NC
Our client, one of the largest global banking and financial services companies, is hiring for a contract Oracle PL/SQL Developer. This is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite per week in Charlotte, NC.
The client is looking for PL/SQL expertise and a strong data engineering background to design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale data solutions. This person will be building pipelines and processing very large datasets, so experience at that scale is needed. CI/CD proficiency is also required.
The client also prefers any level of Python scripting experience and prefers any experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Redshift, Snowflake, etc. Overall, this role requires deep technical capability, strong ownership, and the ability to independently drive solutions in a production-heavy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oracle / PL-SQL Engineering & Performance Optimization
- Design and develop advance Oracle PL/SQL solutions with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Optimize existing SQL and PL/SQL code using execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and tuning techniques
- Ensure robust error handling, transaction integrity, and adherence to enterprise coding standards
Data Engineering & Large-Scale Data Processing
- Build and maintain high-performance data pipelines and transformations for large-scale datasets
- Apply data engineering best practices including data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and data validation
- Python knowledge for automation and data processing
DevOps, CI/CD & Production Readiness
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for database deployments and manage code lifecycle using GitHub
- Leverage enterprise tools for scheduling, monitoring, alerting, and operational readiness
- Ensure production-grade solutions with proper logging, observability, and compliance with release processes
AI-Assisted Development
- Use AI-based development tools to improve coding efficiency, quality, and speed of delivery
- Apply modern engineering practices to drive productivity and maintain high development standards
Ownership, Problem Solving & Execution
- Independently lead design, development, and delivery with minimal oversight
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive end-to-end resolution
- Demonstrate strong ownership, proactive problem-solving, and a "can-do" attitude
Required Experience:
- Oracle / PL-SQL: Strong expertise in Oracle PL/SQL development with proven ability to write and optimize high-performance code for large-scale production systems
- Data Engineering: Strong background in data engineering with hands-on experience in data pipelines, modeling, and processing large datasets
- Working knowledge of Python for automation and data processing
- DevOps & CI/CD: Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and using GitHub extensively within enterprise environments with strong production awareness
- AI & Modern Engineering Practices: Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to enhance productivity and code quality
- Ownership & Execution: Demonstrated ability to independently drive solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and operate with a strong ownership mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid data platforms
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and compliance requirements
- Experience in financial services or other regulated environments
