Role: Oracle PL-SQL Developer Location: Toronto, ON Duration: Long Term Contract
Responsibilities
- Design and implement database objects including tables, views, indexes, and sequences.
- Write and maintain complex PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to implement business logic.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using tools like Oracle Cloud Control, AWR reports, and EXPLAIN PLAN; optimize SQL and PL/SQL code for maximum scalability and speed.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle Database software; manage database storage, plan for capacity growth, and handle routine patching and maintenance.
- Implement and maintain robust security measures, including data encryption, user access controls, and auditing to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Develop and execute strategies for database backup and disaster recovery using RMAN.
- Design and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to migrate data between systems or into data warehouses using utilities like SQL*Loader and Data Pump.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field.
- Deep knowledge of Oracle Database architecture (12c, 19c) and advanced PL/SQL programming techniques such as bulk processing, collection types, and error handling.
- Proficiency with TOAD, SQL Developer, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting for automation.
- Professional credentials such as Oracle Certified Professional or Oracle Certified Associate are highly valued.
- Knowledge of ESP Scheduler is desirable.
