Job Title: Senior Performance Engineer with Java, performance engineering & Testing Framework
Location: Jersey City, NJ(Hybrid – 2 weeks onsite , 2 weeks remote)
Duration: Long term Contract with possibility of Conversion
Interview Details: 2 rounds
1st is virtual, final will be on site *Candidates must be willing to come on site *
1st round is 45 minutes - virtual - hands on assessment should be expected. Candidates should have a local environment ready and ability to share screen
2nd round is 1.5 hours and on site:
30 minutes: Java Basics, JVM details, performance tuning (profiling, stake trace analysis, etc)
30 Minutes: AWS
30 Minutes: behavioral and culture
please ensure hands on in the development of performance test (not someone that is solely testing strategy)
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a Senior Performance Engineer (10+ years) with a strong Java development background who has moved into performance engineering and has hands-on experience building performance testing frameworks—not just executing tests.
What the Client is Looking:
Senior Performance Engineer with strong hands-on performance testing experience.
Experience designing and developing performance test frameworks/harnesses in Java.
Expertise in load, stress, endurance, spike, soak, volume, and capacity testing.
Strong JVM internals knowledge, profiling, tuning, thread dumps, and heap dump analysis.
Experience with low-latency, high-volume distributed systems (trading/financial systems preferred).
Cloud experience (AWS preferred) with microservices, containers, and orchestration platforms.
Strong monitoring/profiling tool experience (Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics).
Ability to work closely with DevOps, CloudOps, and backend engineering teams.
Nice to have: Crypto, Capital Markets, Trading Platforms, Aeron, Solace, 29West, Solarflare/OpenOnload.
Project Summary:
The project is part of Digital Assets' cryptocurrency trading platform. The team builds and optimizes low-latency, high-throughput trading systems that handle market data ingestion, order routing, exchange connectivity, and crypto asset trading. The focus is on ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance of Java-based microservices running in cloud-native environments.
