Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior developer with Shopify ecommerce experience to work withing our small Incubation Team at client. The Incubation team's mission is to
ideate, test, and build new product ideas for client.
Depending on project, you will work closely with our product manager, UX designer and other engineers to build one or more client facing solutions. Your role will be critical in
taking a new initiative from greenfield to production. Because these products are new and we aim to deliver quickly, we need a good communicator who can assume a lead role in keeping the project moving. On some days, this might mean making a list of questions you need answered and then pushing for those answers so you can continue building, or describing a back-end API that is needed, or proposing adoption of a 3rd party library or Shopify app to simplify the approach. In some cases you may also help craft the user stories that you ultimately will implement. Although writing code is a big part of the role, we view a Senior level contributor as one who can add value to the project beyond simply writing code.
Technical Expertise
Deep experience developing and customizing Shopify themes using Liquid, Shopify APIs, and modern frontend tooling.
Proven experience building headless Shopify storefronts using Hydrogen and integrating with Shopify's Storefront API.
Strong React expertise, ideally with Next.js and/or Remix, including performance optimization and server-side rendering.
Experience integrating third-party commerce services such as payment providers, search platforms, CMSs, personalization tools, subscription platforms, and analytics solutions.
Understanding of Shopify's ecosystem, including Shopify Apps, Functions, Checkout Extensibility, Flow, and emerging platform capabilities.
Architecture & Product Thinking
Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and make pragmatic architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and business goals.
Experience designing solutions that support growth, internationalization, multi-store environments, and evolving customer requirements.
Strong product mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into technical solutions and actionable development plans.
Comfortable identifying opportunities to simplify solutions through platform capabilities, third-party services, or reusable architecture patterns.
Leadership & Collaboration
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to lead technical discussions, challenge assumptions constructively, and influence product direction when appropriate.
Experience working in highly collaborative environments alongside product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
Comfortable taking ownership of initiatives from discovery and planning through implementation and production support.

Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects forward in environments with evolving requirements and limited structure.
Strong attention to performance, accessibility, quality, and user experience.
Ability to balance rapid experimentation with long-term maintainability when building new products.
