Senior PHP Developer
Location: Within Tricity (Mandatory)
Salary: 40000-50000 per month
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Schedule: Flexible. Must overlap with U.S. Pacific Time business hours by at least 70%.
Role Overview
Suna Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior PHP Developer to join the company as a direct hire employee. This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role responsible for supporting and advancing all internal PHP-based software systems.
This position will be the sole PHP developer within the organization. The individual will assume full ownership of existing applications and future PHP development initiatives.
Upon hire, the developer will receive structured knowledge transfer and training support from the PHP developers who originally built Suna Solutions’ internal systems. This transition period is expected to last approximately four-six months. Following this period, the developer will independently maintain, enhance, and expand all PHP-based software solutions across the organization. This role requires a high level of autonomy, accountability, and sound engineering judgment.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Experience
7+ years of professional PHP development experience
Proven experience delivering production-grade systems
Experience working independently with full ownership of applications
PHP & Frameworks
Strong PHP expertise
Experience developing applications using a PHP framework preferred
Experience building both web-based and headless/CLI-driven PHP applications
Comfortable working with background jobs, scheduled tasks, and queue-based processing
Development Tooling
Strong working knowledge of Composer
Expert use of Git for version control, including branching strategies and conflict resolution
Daily use of a professional IDE
Experience leveraging a modern development environment for productivity and code quality
Databases & SQL
Strong experience with MySQL
Ability to write complex SQL queries
Ability to optimize queries for performance
Ability to design efficient database schemas
Understanding of indexing, query plans, and transaction behavior
Security
Experience writing secure, defensive code
Working knowledge of common web application vulnerabilities
Experience mitigating risks such as SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, input validation flaws, and authentication/authorization weaknesses
Code Quality
Writes clean, readable, well-organized, and maintainable code
Understands long-term maintainability and system health
Demonstrates strong personal ownership of code quality
AI Usage Expectations
Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity and development workflows

Experience optimizing PHP applications for efficiency

Comfortable working with long-running processes and scheduled tasks

Suna Solutions maintains several internally developed software systems critical to business operations. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving these systems while also contributing to new development initiatives as business needs evolve.
The Senior PHP Developer will report to the IT Manager and collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into reliable software solutions.
