Role Overview
Design, develop, and optimize complex database solutions using PostgreSQL.
Collaborate with application developers and data engineers to ensure high-performance and scalable database implementations.
Support data migration, ETL processes, and schema design to meet business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions in PostgreSQL.
Perform query performance tuning, indexing strategies, and optimization of long-running processes.
Assist in schema design, table partitioning, and creation of materialized views.
Write ETL scripts and batch jobs for data processing and transformation.
Migrate data from legacy systems or other RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, DB2) into PostgreSQL.
Monitor and proactively address slow queries and database performance issues.
Collaborate with application developers, data engineers, and architects to implement efficient data structures and access paths.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.
Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and performance tuning.
Experience with PostgreSQL internals and analyzing explain plans.
Proficiency in PL/pgSQL functions, procedures, and triggers.
Exposure to data migration using COPY, FDW, or data loaders.
Understanding of indexes, constraints, and transaction isolation levels.
Knowledge of other RDBMS like Oracle or MySQL is a plus.
