Australian International School Hong Kong (AISHK) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Primary Strings Program Coordinator toestablishand lead a new strings programme for Year 3 students, launching in January 2027.

This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity for a passionatestringseducator with strong classroom teaching, ensembleleadershipand programme development skills to help design and deliver a high-quality instrumental music programme. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Performing Arts and Primary Arts Coordinator to develop the programme, recruit specialist teachingstaffand oversee its implementation.

The role willcommencewith a planning and development phase in Term 3, 2026. TheCoordinatorwill play a key role in shaping the programme from the ground up and ensuring its successful launch.


Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and develop the new Year 3 Strings Programme
  • Develop curriculum resources and teaching materials
  • Recruit and support a team of specialist strings tutors
  • Coordinate programmelogistics,schedulingand communications
  • Lead ensemble rehearsals and performance opportunities
  • Teach within the programme and support student learning and progress
  • Collaborate with the Head of Performing Arts and Primary Arts Coordinator to ensure programme success

Applicants shoulddemonstrate:

  • Experience teaching string instruments in primary school settings
  • Expertisein group strings instruction
  • Strong conducting and ensemble leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities
  • A collaborative and student-centred approach
  • Enthusiasm for developing innovative and engaging music programmes
  • Part-time position (1-2 days per week,hourly rate,hours negotiable)
  • Commencing in Term 3, 2026on a date agreed with successful applicant
  • Terms 3 and 4, 2026 will focus on programme development, implementation planning andassistingwith the recruitment of the specialist strings teaching team
  • Continuing ona part-time basis (1-2 days per week) from January 2027 to coordinate and teach within the newly established Year 3 Strings Programme
  • Hong Kong permanent residency or ability to work in Hong Kongrequired

Specialist Strings Tutors(commencingJanuary 2027)

AISHK is also seeking specialist strings tutors in violin, viola, cello and double bass to teach beginner students in small groups within the programme. These positions will initially involve approximately two hours of teaching per week from January 2027,with the possibilityofadditionalprivate tuition opportunities.
