The Process Control Engineer supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by maintaining, optimizing, and developing process control applications, automation systems, and control strategies for assigned processing units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support control applications, including development, modification, tuning, and optimization of control strategies.
  • Provide DCS, PLC, SIS, and advanced process control support to improve unit performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor process unit operations and collaborate with process engineering teams to meet production, quality, and energy targets.
  • Develop control strategies for new projects, process improvements, and new product applications.
  • Support alarm management programs, including alarm reviews, rationalization, and KPI improvement.
  • Participate in PSM Management of Change (MOC), PHA/LOPA studies, incident investigations, and control-related project activities.
  • Develop operator graphics, provide training, and support implementation of control system changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of process controls, process engineering, or operations engineering experience in a petrochemical or refining environment.
  • Experience with Foxboro IA (Invensys) and Emerson DeltaV required.
  • Experience with PLC systems (Triconex, GE Fanuc, Mark V/VII preferred), DCS systems, continuous and batch control applications.
  • Knowledge of PHA/LOPA studies and control network management preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and collaboration skills.
