This position will take daily direction from the engineering manager with key responsibilities being the design and construction of new tooling, creation of new processes and application of existing processes for new product introductions, and optimization of tooling and processes to optimize quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Carry out the design and creation of new tooling, including when appropriate the use of simulations
- Create process specifications for new jobs, including core make, molding, melt and pour, cleaning and heat treatment
- Interpret engineering drawings to determine quality and reliability standard
- s.Review casting and assembly designs and provide feedback to design engineering regarding feasibility of manufacturing
- Execute sampling of new jobs to validate the quality and manufacturability
- Identify and pursue quality improvement activities (scrap reduction and rework reduction) on problem jobs
- Perform process audits, comparing process documentation with what is actually being done and completing an audit report to detail the findings
- Analyze cost impact of processes, materials and tools to facilitate cost-sensitive decision-making during process and tooling design
- Perform dimensional analysis of castings and assembly
- Work cooperatively with external vendors to ensure the supply of necessary materials or services when appropriate
- With training, perform troubleshooting and programming of Castalloy’s robot and 3D printers
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and personnel policies and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, executives and other employees of the organization. Require good communication and negotiation skills
- Good organizational skills and ability to balance many different projects at a time
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
- iPrior experience with Microsoft Office software. Experience with Microsoft AX and Blue Star, Solid Cast software and Solidworks helpful
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
