Job Summary

We are looking for a Process Engineer 3 to support engineering projects, manufacturing operations, metallurgical processes, and mechanical systems. The engineer will work closely with operations, quality, maintenance, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams to execute projects and solve manufacturing/process issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation and handover.
  • Develop project scope, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Support metallurgical analysis, material selection, heat treatment, and failure analysis.
  • Support mechanical system design, equipment layouts, piping, fixtures, and fluid systems.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Support production trials, troubleshooting, process improvement, and ramp-up activities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, operations, quality, and maintenance teams.
  • Support capital equipment installation, modification, and startup.
  • Prepare technical documentation, work instructions, project updates, and reports.
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
  • 5 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or industrial equipment environments.
  • Strong project management skills: scope, schedule, cost, and risk.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical processes and materials behavior.
  • Mechanical systems design and evaluation experience.
  • Manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with heat treatment, steel, forging, casting, or surface treatment.
  • Experience with capital equipment projects or plant installations.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Creo, or similar CAD tools.
  • Understanding of quality systems, validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with heat-treat equipment.
Ideal Candidate
  • Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineer with 5+ years of industrial/manufacturing experience.
  • Strong combination of project management + mechanical/metallurgical engineering.
  • Comfortable working both in an office and on the manufacturing/shop floor.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and work effectively with operations and suppliers.
  • Must be comfortable working 100% onsite in East Peoria, IL.
Work Schedule

Monday Friday | 7:30 AM 4:00 PM CST

Travel: 0 25%, primarily Peoria/East Peoria and occasional supplier locations.
