Engineering Director / Head of Engineering Cluster

JOB PURPOSE

Plant heat rate monitoring. Periodic performance testing of the process and equipment, Performance gap analysis, UHR calculation and addressing the gap WRT design.

Identification of key areas of performance loss, developing mitigation plans with relevant engineering functions.

Identification of process changes, upgrades, operational regime changes to continue to improve plant efficiency.

Present Business cases regularly to relevant management functions to aid in decision making processes (running losses vs corrected)

Ownership of MPC performance related issues observed and development of planning to correct.

Reporting of relevant asset performance KPI’s to required platforms

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Ensure Plant Heat Rate Monitoring and control monitored Fuel reconciliation and monthly heat loss accounting to be maintained. Periodic performance testing of process and equipment to be performed Condenser performance testing and suggesting corrective actions to be carried out. Air Pre-Heater In-leakage testing to be carried out as per plan. Dirty and clean sir test for milling system to be carried out as per plan. Ensure Performance monitoring of Fans Ensure Heater performance monitoring Ensure Performance monitoring of pumps Ensure to maintain Flue gas path mapping and combustion optimization Monitoring of Aux power consumption and identifying deviation Monitoring KPIs and process compliance Responsible for documentation & implementation of IMS related to the section Generating reports on daily /monthly/yearly WRT performance and report to management Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner. Contribute with new ideas and suggestions in-line with the organisation’s standards. Suggest Digitization areas. Health, Safety, Security & Environment Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed. COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Internal Need to work closely with all sections of plant specially shift operations and Engineering / Maintenance Sections MPC coordination External Coordinate with contractors, vendors wherever applicable REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. 7-10 years related experience in operation/performance monitoring in coal-based unit. 10-12 years of related experience in thermal power plant REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Thorough knowledge on Power plant systems, processes, Equipment and their behavior. Must have desk experience and emergency condition handling exposure. Exposure in latest computer software programs in performance calculations.
