Summary
This position will be located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) either in Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the candidate chosen. The incumbent will be a member of DETR's Information Systems and Applications (ISA) team which is responsible for developing and maintaining various software applications as well as web sites used by the department. Under general supervision, the incumbent will work as a software developer and web designer to help maintain existing applications and websites and also create new applications to meet business needs. DETR's applications are based on various platforms and architectures including Microsoft .NET, Oracle and Java. DETR is looking for software developers proficient in programming with C#, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, PHP, REST API, Oracle APEX and Visual Studio. For Web Design, DETR uses tools such as WordPress, Dream Weaver, CSS, HTML and Google Analytics, and Graphic Design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of these tools and technologies and will also possess experience in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This position is subject to call-out or call-back and working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required. Statewide travel is required for up to 25%, so a valid driver's license is required.Examples of duties
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Qualifications
