Job Duties
The incumbent will perform multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team and may perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs or other work activities.
Applies experience and advanced knowledge of assignments to plan and accomplish assignments. Assignments may also include: tracking and analyzing data to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; providing guidance to less-experienced professionals in day-to-day operations; identifying, analyzing, and recommending solutions for complex/difficult problems; and recommending improvements to systems and processes.
The incumbent will support the FAA Logistics Center by examining data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of providing new insight for the management of projects. Designs and implements custom algorithms, flow processes, and layouts for complex, enterprise scale data sets used for modeling, data mining and research purposes and to provide reports of Group operational and financial goals. Support development of the Group's business plan. Analyze deviations in data from planned business results for root causes. Develop information as requested for managers to plan business operations. The incumbent maintains databases to measure the effectiveness and/or efficiency of FAA Logistics Center financial and operational program goals and objectives in order to provide optimum customer support.
Coordinate the efforts of functional specialists to identify specific requirements for inclusion in schedules. Adjust plans and schedules to meet Group requirements for budget, performance, and time. Develop informational reports to support management decisions and analysis.
Produces computer generated reports that include charts, graphs, and other types of supporting documentation as well as communicating these items to management, informal groups, and customers, both in person and telephonically.
Demonstrates considerable independence in planning time and helping a manager, project/program manager, and/or team leader to plan and use assigned resources to accomplish projects/programs/activities. May identify and request additional resources, as needed. Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit, major subdivision, or LOB/SO with managers and the other employees to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and/or explain the statuses of assignments. May have frequent contacts with customers and other external parties on routine matters such as gathering information, explaining regulations, and discussing the customer's situations.
Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow considerable discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es) or recommend new approaches. Assignments often require reviews of policies and precedents under the limited guidance of a manager or other employee.
Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Refers to managers and professionals who are more experienced problems that require their attention. May help them develop and recommend solutions.
Work typically is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities. Work Activities typically support and may be vital to the success of projects and/or activities for one or more organizational units, major subdivisions, and/or LOBs/SOs. In some specialties, the work may affect internal and external customers.
