Material Planner (1st Shift)

Position Summary
The Material Planner is responsible for managing the order backlog from order entry through shipment, ensuring materials are planned, purchased, and delivered on time to support production schedules and customer commitments. This role works cross-functionally with Contracts, Production, Purchasing, Receiving, and Shipping to maintain material flow and resolve planning issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sales order backlog and production schedules.
- Plan, purchase, and expedite materials to support manufacturing.
- Review and act on MRP action messages, create work orders, and issue purchase orders.
- Coordinate with Contracts, Receiving, Shipping, and Production to ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor delivery schedules, identify potential delays, and drive recovery plans.
- Support inventory control, outside processing, and schedule changes.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely delivery of quality products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of experience in Production Control, Material Planning, or Inventory Management.
- Experience in Aerospace or Defense manufacturing is required.
- Strong experience with MRP/ERP systems (JDE preferred; SAP is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine shop operations, and inventory planning.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with JDE MRP.
- SAP knowledge.
- Familiarity with military and commercial manufacturing standards.
