Program Supervisor

Role Responsibilities

Lac la Biche Youth Centre is seeking a dedicated Program Supervisor to lead a team in providing trauma-informed care for youth aged 11-17 with complex emotional and behavioral needs. As a Program Supervisor your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Program Leadership & Compliance: Lead and train staff to ensure compliance with legislation, ministry mandates, and agency policies while overseeing service delivery, case management, and care planning for children/youth.
• Team Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supervise staff in implementing therapeutic interventions, and facilitate multidisciplinary programming to support youth well-being.
• Program Oversight & Development: Ensure programs align with ministry objectives, oversee quality control, and manage operational decision-making for multiple care programs.
• Staff Supervision & Performance Management: Lead and support staff, conduct performance evaluations, facilitate coaching conversations, and participate in recruitment.
• Client & Service Coordination: Ensure the well-being of children/youth, support crisis prevention and de-escalation, oversee risk assessments, and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
• Stakeholder Collaboration & Strategic Planning: Liaise with advocacy groups, facilitate multidisciplinary meetings, support family engagement, and contribute to strategic program planning.

You have a sound knowledge of therapeutic modalities applicable to the clients. An in-depth knowledge of CAC Standards, Outcome Evaluations, Best Practices, and Program Development is essential. A sound knowledge and integration of agency philosophy, values, objectives, goals, policies, and procedures as well as Regional & Human Services Ministry objectives is an asset.

Qualifications

Related diploma or related degree (Child and Youth Care, Sociology, Psychology etc.) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience.

Children and Family Services is committed to delivering culturally appropriate services to Indigenous populations and we encourage applications from Indigenous candidates.

Assets:

• A high cultural competency in Indigenous experience
• Child and Youth Care Degree or Diploma
• Certification with the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta is preferred.
• Related experience in a campus-based care setting, working with indigenous populations, working in youth homes, crisis intervention, family counselling, youth counselling, youth correction work, childcare program development, trauma informed practice and behavioral therapy.
• First Aid Certificate and Suicide Prevention Certificate

Hours of Work: This position works 38.75 hours per week.

Location: Lac la Biche, Alberta

Pre-Employment Requirements:

As part of the application process, final candidates will be required to complete and satisfactorily qualify on:

• Intervention Record Check
• Alberta College of Social Workers Registration (if applicable)
• Provide a Current 5 Year Commercial Driver Abstract
  

Role Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.

Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.

• Final candidates will be required to undergo a criminal records check (CRC).
• Applicants being considered for this position will be required to complete a Level 2 Enhanced Security screening (including an enhanced criminal record check along with a credit check) as part of the pre-employment checks for this position.
