Job Summary:
The VDOT Programmer Analyst .NET Core role is a senior developer position responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality .NET Core web applications. The developer will work onsite in Richmond, VA, collaborating with business and system analysts to implement complex software requirements using modern frameworks and best practices in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop applications and backend services using C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, JavaScript, JQuery, AngularJS, Node.js, CSS, and Blazor.
- Design software components using appropriate design patterns to ensure reusability and maintainability.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
- Follow programming best practices and document system designs as needed.
- Collaborate with project business and system analysts to clarify and implement requirements.
- Participate in Agile software development lifecycle activities.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 10+ years of .NET web application development experience.
- Proficiency with JavaScript and frameworks such as JQuery, React, Angular, or Blazor.
- Strong knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
- Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation for automated builds.
- 7+ years experience with Oracle SQL Server databases and PL/SQL.
- Experience with process automation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Agile SDLC best practices (minimum 3 years).
- Strong communication skills for technical and business discussions.
- Ability to write effective unit and integration tests.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with tiered architecture and system design patterns.
- Knowledge of competitive IT strategies and key business processes.
Special Considerations:
- Candidate must reside permanently in Richmond, VA area.
- All interviews are required to be conducted onsite.
- Work onsite 3 days per week at 1401 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA.
- Contractor responsible for purchasing parking through VDOT or arranging own parking.
- Compliance with Commonwealth of Virginia security policies prohibiting offshore IT contractors.
Scheduling:
- Long-term contract position starting September 7, 2026, through at least June 30, 2027, with possible extension up to 24 months.
- Onsite work required 3 or more days per week as determined by management.
