Programming Assistant

KBMT-TV is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Programming Assistant to support programming, traffic, and station operations for KBMT, KJAC, and KUIL. Reporting to the Programming Director, this position will assist with maintaining accurate programming schedules and logs, downloading and preparing syndicated and paid programming, completing programming reports, and coordinating with internal departments to support the successful broadcast of station content. The Programming Assistant will also provide administrative and operational support for locally produced programming, news, sales, and other station functions. The ideal candidate is dependable, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and interested in learning television programming and traffic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Programming and Traffic Support
    • Assist the Programming Director and Traffic team with daily programming and traffic-related activities for KBMT, KJAC, and KUIL.
    • Download, review, and place paid programming content into the appropriate station systems.
    • Download and prepare the Dallas Cowboys Special Edition, Cowboys Huddle, and other syndicated or special programming.
    • Assist with downloading and preparing programs, shows, and other broadcast content as needed.
    • Support the maintenance and reconciliation of programming schedules, traffic logs, and program formats.
    • Help identify missing content, scheduling discrepancies, timing issues, or other concerns that could affect broadcast operations.
    • Coordinate with Programming, Traffic, News, Sales, and station operations personnel to resolve programming or content issues.
    • Train on the completion of station issues reports, programming reports, and other required documentation.
    • Assist with maintaining programming records and documentation for operational, billing, and regulatory purposes.
    • Provide administrative support for programming and news department projects, including scheduling, coordination, and documentation activities.
  • Local Programming Support
    • Assist with coordinating and booking guests for the station's midday program.
    • Communicate with guests regarding scheduling, arrival instructions, program expectations, and other appearance details.
    • Maintain organized guest schedules and provide timely information to the appropriate production and programming teams.
    • Provide administrative and coordination support for locally produced programs, station specials, and community-focused content as needed.
  • Station Administrative Support
    • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages.
    • Receive and process station checks and other materials for the Sales department and station clients in accordance with established procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure materials are delivered to the appropriate department or employee.
    • Provide general administrative and operational support to Programming, Traffic, Sales, News, and station leadership as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in television, media, programming, traffic, or administrative support preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn programming and traffic systems, including TitanTV MediaStar Scheduler, WideOrbit Traffic, and Pulse.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Dependable attendance and flexibility to support changing programming and station needs.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position based at KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas. The position supports programming and operational activities for KBMT, KJAC, and KUIL and may occasionally require schedule flexibility based on station programming and business needs.
