Project Manager

Bradley Professional is currently seeking a Project Manager for a high-growth structural steel fabricator specializing in the warehousing and distribution center market, producing fabricated columns, beams, angles, and plates for installation at construction sites, as well as miscellaneous steel such as rails, stairs, mezzanines, and dock guards.

This Project Manager position is based at the Winston Salem, NC location and is responsible for the management, direction, and profitability of all assigned projects.

The Project Manager administers and directs all activities related to project scope, operations, and product orders, uniting strategy, order management, and delivery to ensure the best client experience. This individual certifies accuracy across all orders, logistics, and execution while maintaining high standards in quality control, field safety, and compliance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall project delivery, including cost, schedule, and quality for all assigned projects.
  • Manage all schedules and scope, coordinating drafting, purchasing, fabrication, and erection sequences to best accommodate the customer's construction schedule.
  • Review and understand specifications and fabrication drawings, ensuring that only products, details, coatings, and other items included on the sales order are provided.
  • Compile and disseminate project information to responsible departments, communicating schedule changes with internal and external clients.
  • Ensure that production goals are communicated to the shop and field, following up on action plans to confirm implementation.
  • Create "what-if" scenarios and generate schedules for cost and resources to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Fully utilize Tekla Project Management features, including RFIs, submittals, transmittals, change orders, drawing transmittals, and associated follow-up.
  • Attend project meetings and visit job sites to determine progress, investigate problems, and support field operations as required.
  • Work with vendors to monitor joist, deck, stair, and rail drafting, fabrication, and delivery schedules, making adjustments where necessary.
  • Communicate directly with concerned departments to resolve issues affecting production or product quality.
  • Notify Sales, Drafting personnel, and the CEO of changes to contract plans, specifications, and other applicable documents, providing status updates on DCN analysis and related change orders.
  • Update monthly billing for each assigned project and support accurate record-keeping for drawing status, transmittals, and project documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Drafting, Accounting, Production, Purchasing, suppliers, and erectors as necessary to fulfill project duties.
  • Negotiate with erectors and customers to minimize back charges when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Construction degree preferred but not necessary. Experience will offset degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience required, ideally within construction or structural steel fabrication.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, client management, and organizational practices, with the ability to oversee project direction, completion, and financial outcome.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting stringent deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills, with frequent client interaction expected.
  • Field experience is not required but is considered a plus.
  • Erection knowledge and familiarity with structural steel installation are preferred.
