Several positions are now open in Airbus CRISA (Airbus Defense & Space) in Tres Cantos (Madrid area) for different Space business: Launchers (Ariane6, Vega-C and Vega-E), Earth Exploration (Copernicus missions and PAZ-2), Space Exploration (Artemis), and Commercial (Telecommunications Satellites). Role Overview

Functionally, the candidate is part of the Project, with the main mission of establishing a test strategy to verify that the electronic units meet the requirements specified by the customer, in accordance with project schedule, cost and quality requirements. In a day‑to‑day basis, she/he will report to the Project Manager. Within each project, the Test Manager is responsible for the verification of the design and manufacturing of the unit, acting as a key role of the Project Team. The candidate will work very closely to the Technical Manager, Project Manager, Product Assurance Manager, Industrial Manager, Validation Manager and the EEE/PCB manager.

The Test Manager’s tasks comprise the complete verification cycle of an electronic equipment: from the analysis of the requirements in the Negotiation Phase to the acceptance campaign of the flight deliverables, once successfully passed the qualification of the unit. For this purpose, the candidate will supervise, aligned with Project and Team objectives, the activities of the project team composed of the test engineers and technicians responsible of the validation of the Flight Unit.

Task and Accountabilities

  • Active participation in technical discussions with the customer during the Negotiation Phase, from prior to formal kick‑off of the project up to the in‑flight operations of the Space System.
  • Assist the Project Manager in requirement assessment and risk identification.
  • Close collaboration with the Technical Manager in defining the architecture of the Flight Unit based on the project requirements to optimize it and the Ground Equipment designs focusing on a Design for Testing philosophy. This task is performed in close co‑engineering with other stakeholders (FPGA, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials and Processes, EEE, Radiation).
  • Lead the requirement assessment to define the EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) architecture.
  • Support the Technical Manager for technical issue resolution, in strong collaboration with experts as necessary under quality and programmatic rules.
  • Document and report the Design Validation of the Flight Unit in different documents (Verification Control Document, Test Procedures and Reports) to support design robustness during stakeholder reviews (Requirement Review, Preliminary and Architecture Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, Test Review Board).
  • Support Test Engineers during integration, qualification and acceptance test campaigns for the corresponding flight models (EQM, QM, PFM, FM), including development of necessary jigs (tooling, vibration and thermal fixtures).
  • Throughout the recurring phase of the project, ensure close monitoring of any deviation, evolution and/or discrepancy from the agreed design.
  • Ensure that agreed hours for performing verification activities are met.
  • Customer oriented, building a trust relationship based on proactive and continuous support to show confidence in the design.

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree level (or equivalent) in engineering or science discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in the validation and verification of electronic units.
  • English and Spanish at negotiation‑level, both written and spoken.
  • Technical excellence and challenge spirit.
  • Digital mindset (automation of tasks, scripting, use of digital design tools and simulators).
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills (internal and external).
  • Customer oriented.
  • Strong team working and cooperation spirit to motivate the project team.
  • Capability to propose practical solutions; constructive and innovative mindset.
  • Independent and autonomous way of working.

Recommended Skills

  • Knowledge of space environment constraints and European space regulations, ESCC, SMD, etc.
  • Familiar with Agile Methodologies.
  • Technical knowledge of advanced test instrumentation to foster automation (development of scripts and data management).
  • Willingness to learn and teach others.
