Sr. Prototype Assembler
Space and Defense Group in Chatsworth is looking for a Sr. Prototype Assembler.
Produces mechanisms for spacecraft motion control with design and flight heritage expanding over 45 years. With origins from historic programs such as Apollo and Pioneer to present-day satellite programs.

The spacecraft mechanisms facility in Chatsworth, California includes a fully-integrated engineering/design, manufacturing and test capability. Spacecraft products are flexible to meet customer requirements for a wide breadth of applications ranging from commercial to government flight programs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Working from engineering drawings and informal instructions develops and applies the methods and tooling required to complete precision electromechanical assemblies using related mechanical inspection equipment and hydraulic / electrical test equipment to make adjustments and verify final configuration characteristics.
- Prepares assembly instructions.
- Records and maintains unit folder assembly data.
- Investigates assembly problems affecting assembly completion and functional performance. Provides assembly problem feedback to department supervisor or cognizant engineer along with possible causes and suggested corrective action.
- Technically directs the assembly efforts of one or more supporting prototype assemblers on large hardware programs.
- Directs the assembly activities and trains production assemblers in new product assembly methods and techniques as a part of product transfer.
Required Skills:
- Five years' experience as an Assembler, and four years as a prototype assembler.
- Ability to work directly from engineering drawings and sketches.
- Interpersonal skills required to deal with persons of several levels within the company as well as customer representatives.
Education:
High school graduate or formal training equivalency.
