Python AI Engineer

Location: Mississauga, ON, Canada, L5B 1A7

Job Overview

Hybrid work model: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote. Full‑time, temp‑to‑hire, approximately 6 months. Hourly rate: $65–$74.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and support Python‑based applications and services.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and event‑driven integrations.
  • Contribute to the development of Agentic AI workflows and MCP‑enabled application components.
  • Implement integrations between AI models, enterprise systems, and business applications.
  • Develop reusable services and components following enterprise engineering standards.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, coding, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and operational controls to ensure service reliability.
  • Contribute to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks.
  • Work with messaging and event‑streaming technologies to support asynchronous processing.
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to analyze requirements and develop technical solutions.
  • Support issue resolution, performance tuning, and application enhancements.
  • Document technical designs, implementation details, and operational procedures.
  • Follow established security, governance, and risk‑management standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related STEM field.
  • 2–5 years of experience developing applications using Python.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices development.
  • Familiarity with event‑driven architecture and messaging platforms.
  • Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python frameworks.
  • Knowledge of SQL and database technologies.
  • Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Agentic AI frameworks, MCP, LLMs, and GenAI solutions.
  • Familiarity with Kafka, MQ, or event‑streaming platforms.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and container technologies.
  • Banking, risk management, or financial services experience.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, observability, and platform monitoring.
