About the Role
We are partnering with a tier‑one hedge fund with a global presence to hire a Python Developer for a hybrid development and support position within one of their most high‑profile front office trading teams.
This is a rare opportunity to work directly with algorithmic trading desks across multiple asset classes, building automation‑centric support systems while also handling critical real‑time support. You will gain unparalleled exposure to the full workflow of a tier one hedge fund — the kind of front office visibility and responsibility that most support engineers never experience.
As the sole engineer for this desk in APAC, you will be entrusted with significant ownership, independence, and responsibility. The role reports directly to one of the firm’s global heads, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure while collaborating with stakeholders worldwide.
What you'll be doing in this role
- Design and build next‑generation automation systems to support front office trading teams
- Provide hands‑on support, including firefighting when required, for mission‑critical trading workflows.
- Develop new features and automation tools for algorithmic trading across diverse asset classes.
- Operate independently as the primary engineering resource for the APAC desk.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, including traders, quants, and senior management.
What you should have
- Mastery of Python (data structures, algorithms, optimization - basic scripting is not enough).
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial services (quantitative development or Python engineering)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive under pressure
- Background in front office environments or exposure to trading workflows needed.
