Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Python Developer with strong expertise in custom API development, REST API integration, automation, and cybersecurity solutions. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of vulnerability management and cybersecurity concepts, along with hands-on experience working with Tenable products and their APIs.
The candidate will be responsible for developing custom Python-based solutions, integrating security products, automating security operations, and building APIs to support customized cybersecurity use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Python-based applications, tools, and automation frameworks.
- Design and develop custom REST APIs and API-driven integrations.
- Integrate third-party security products and enterprise applications using APIs.
- Develop custom use cases and automation around cybersecurity platforms.
- Work with Tenable product APIs, including APIs related to vulnerability management, assets, scans, vulnerabilities, users, and reporting.
- Develop Python scripts and services to extract, transform, process, and synchronize security data.
- Build integrations between Tenable and other security/IT platforms such as SIEM, SOAR, ITSM, CMDB, and vulnerability-management systems.
- Analyze API documentation and identify suitable endpoints to implement customer-specific requirements.
- Develop reusable API clients, authentication mechanisms, data-processing modules, and integration components.
- Implement error handling, logging, monitoring, authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
- Troubleshoot API, integration, performance, and application-level issues.
- Participate in solution design, technical documentation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Work closely with cybersecurity consultants and customers to understand requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
Requirements
Required Technical Skills
Python Development
- 4+ years of hands-on Python development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Python programming concepts, OOP, data structures, exception handling, and modular application development.
- Experience with frameworks/libraries such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, Requests, Pydantic, or equivalent.
- Experience developing production-grade REST APIs.
- Good understanding of JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS, authentication, and API security.
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
- Experience with Git and standard software development practices.
- Understanding of Linux environments and basic shell scripting.
API Development & Integration
- Strong hands-on experience in custom API development and integration.
- Experience working with REST APIs and authentication mechanisms such as API keys, OAuth, tokens, and basic authentication.
- Ability to understand existing APIs and identify appropriate endpoints for custom requirements.
- Experience handling API pagination, rate limits, asynchronous operations, retries, error handling, and large datasets.
- Experience developing integrations between multiple enterprise applications.
- Ability to create clear API documentation and technical design documentation.
Tenable & Vulnerability Management
- The candidate should have a good understanding of Tenable products and vulnerability-management concepts.
